I guess we sort of had this moment in Rebels with Ahsoka vs. Vader VADER: Revenge is not the Jedi way AHSOKA: I am no Jedi

PALPATINE: as you see, Ahsoka Jr., under the Jedi Code you are as much an asshole for wanting to stab me as I am for operating the Genocide Galaxy, an invincible super station that runs on the innocence of children AHSOKA JR: this is why I wasn't raised Jedi, dude *stabs*

This was actually like a thing in the old EU, some kind of authorial guideline was clearly in place for a while that said Palpatine had to be taken as speaking truthfully in RotJ and this applied to all Force users

I clearly remember the last old-EU novel before New Jedi Order (which changed a lot of stuff), which was called the New Rebellion, and it was like this bomber blew up half of Coruscant and Leia tracked him down and he was about to kill Innocents again so she shot him

So she goes to Luke and is like "I was feeling angry while I shot that guy, am I basically a Sith Lord now" and Luke was like "*shrugs* probably not, I think?"

Of course that came right after the book where Luke dates a girl who pretends to be from his mom's homeworld (bc Naboo wasn't a thing yet) and she was all "YOU KILLED ALL THE DEATH STAR JANITORS, JUST LIKE IN CLERKS" and that was like two books of Luke's arc

That series was really meta tbh, it had a part where Leia is distraught to enter a nightclub for a meeting with a source and it turns out it's based accurately on Jabba's palace and she's like "wow, I got sexually exploited in this layout, this is super insensitive"

Said series (the Corellian trilogy) also directly contradicted the Jedi Prince books, and thus positioned itself much further from nuCanon, by revealing that "Solo" was an ancient Corellian dynasty to which Han was heir (while Jedi Prince correctly predicted "Solo" = "Snow")

Of course it could be both. At this point I'm expecting a Star Wars movie where the Solo line is in fact a secret dynasty AND ALSO there's World Devastators and the Galaxy Gun

I mean, in real life "prestige" names were frequently taken up as fake names by people who didn't have them, this is why 40% of Vietnamese people have the royal surname "Nguyen"
