You would really think based on the reaction that Uber as a company decided to refuse her and the driver was just the poor, innocent messenger. Quite frankly, if I work retail and act bigoted towards a customer, being at work doesn't make it the company's fault.

There's a lot that is Uber's fault, but employees (or "independent contractors") are still individuals with agency who can make decisions for themselves.
