Yes, I get it, the fact that we don't live in Fully Automated Luxury Communism means that until that glorious day comes anyone who has a job of any kind should be able to be as much of a dick as they want

The main issue is that nobody seriously believes this I highly doubt you'd actually yell at me if some Uber driver canceled on me because "I don't drive chinks" and I "got him fired" The issue is that you actually think this guy didn't do anything wrong

It's that you don't actually conceive of ableism as an irrational bigotry that is extremely widespread You think it's an objective fact that disabled people really are a burden on society and it's unjust for any individual abled person to shoulder that cost

There is no evidence that any material harm would have or ever did hit the driver from picking up disabled people with service animals But you're just taking as fact that he was put in an impossible situation and asked to do something he shouldn't have to do

No, my concern is that even if I did think this utopia of fully funded public services was just around the corner, the fact that you think ableism is a valid matter of personal conscience means if you get to build those services they will still be ableist

Unless those services are truly FULLY automated they will still be operated by human workers of some kind, and you think workers have an absolute right to refuse to do whatever shit they don't want to do

The ADA is far from utopian, it's a pretty weak law (a "liberal" law) in the grand scheme of things, but you already seem to think the actually existing protections it provides are onerous and oppressive

You are amazing. Thank you for doing this. I mostly gave up arguing and am now just blocking. Nobody who isn’t already in proximity to disability seems to be getting it at all.

Even if there were fully automated, they’d be designed by humans, and so likely to have the ableism baked right in.

And isn’t that “absolute right” the same one used to deny services to gay people, trans people, Black people, Asians, etc.? Discrimination is immoral, and should be illegal, in all cases.
