We put public pressure on them by publicizing the pattern of behavior with documented examples because that seems to be the only thing that gets people to listen It sucks if individuals get fired over it but it's absolutely not a reason not to do it https://twitter.com/andraydomise/status/1220063167780466690 …

Is firing those who don't comply with the law not an example of the institution taking responsibility? Like there's only so much that can be done and "training" is pointless without enforcement.

Eh, not really when they sturctured the job around being aboe to dump consequences on the worker for that very reason. It's corporatized shirking of responsibility. Doesn't really cost them anything to shuck a driver. That's part of the problem.

That makes sense, but at the same time how much can the corporation do? What training can they do beyond telling them they can't deny service? I suppose they could add more minor penalties before firing but other than that I'm not sure.

I don't know, as I'm not a lawyer. Assuming it's not illegal to do so, I woild think at baseline they could include support for disabilities into the app structure rather than either relying on riders to write in notes on their needs or have drivers show up and be surprised.

If you actually need a special vehicle, like one equipped with a wheelchair lift, they have a service where you can request that (but one that's not nearly comprehensively available enough)

But this case isn't about that Coffeespoonie was very explicit they didn't need any special accommodations other than the driver being willing to sit there and let them and their dog into the car
