or Postmates. Like, let's be honest losing your Uber gig is not the same as losing a fulltime real job. It's way more easily replaceable (with equivalently shitty jobs)

I'm just saying it's not at all fair to suggest this is like she's deprived this guy of his only equivalent source of income. People are acting like she's sentenced him to destitution and death. Someone in my mentions literally said she deprived him of the ability to+

+reproduce himself, which is just false. If people are going to say she should accept being discriminated against because the stakes for the driver are too high, then they can't misrepresent the stakes

The stakes are he can't drive for Uber now, which is inconvenient but not actually equivalent to losing a traditional job, because you can easily go work for the competing services. He probably already drives for both, I did, most do.

This isn't "good", they're all shitty terrible companies that are evil and exploitative, but it means she did not personally plunge this guy into poverty

I mean, yes, but the point is that she almost certainly did not put this guy into crisis. It's not devastating. I got suspended for a week from Lyft once for a really stupid superfluous complaint by a drunk passenger, so I just drove Uber that week

One of the drivers she dealt with *voluntarily quit* over this policy FFS, which throws a wrench until this narrative that everyone who drives for these companies is in a state of total desperation

I don't think hinging the morality/legality of a driver's actions in this circumstance on their relative precarity makes sense. Protections for disabled persons must be relatively absolute to be meaningful at all
