The absolute worst posters here are the ones listing shit coffeespoonie could do instead of calling an Uber (use a professional cab or limo service, use the public transit "disability access" service) like she's never thought of it beforehttps://twitter.com/ShutUpDanni/status/1219614740177129472?s=19 …

Long delays, incredible unreliability, and a new story of sexual assault and other abuse from drivers every damn week Nobody funds these services for jack shit and their hiring standards are therefore nonexistent It's fucking terrifying

At the time I didn't consider myself disabled or interested in disability rights I just knew about this because I read the news It's completely consonant with all the other shitty ways in which public services offered specifically as disability accommodations suck ass

But you keep on spouting shit about how disabled people get all kinds of cool shit they get to use for free And coming up with your shitass ideas about how a compromise where Uber creates a separate Uber Disabled service will work great

It seriously is not too much to ask that disabled people just be allowed to use the same services everyone else uses without paying a premium or being shunted into a segregated space when there's no actual obstacle but people's bigotry

(I love the infantilization of immigrants and PoC in the name of defending them too "How could you possibly expect this ignorant soul who comes from a faraway land to know that discriminating against someone with a wheelchair is bad")

I wish I could find a photo showing how ridiculous navigating Waverly station is without stairs - it's spread across three levels, and you can't get to all of the bottom without going up lifts that take 40-60 seconds to cycle. "Accessible" does not mean *easy*
