That's been an item of discussion in Hollywood a long time Dr Dolittle sounds like an obvious choice for an adaptation because of the talking animals angle but it's very hard to adapt because the original books are narratively shapeless and profoundly racist

Hence the attempt at a relatively faithful movie musical adaptation in the 1960s starring Rex Harrison bombed And the actually fairly successful 90s version ignores the books completely and just has a contemporary story about a guy who can talk to animals
