And "skinnier", "funnier", "pannier", etc I really don't think it's that "clee-ar" is a particularly difficult or unusual sound In fact in a bunch of English dialects that sound gets created by slurring other sounds ("mirror" as "mee-ar")

It's probably especially because there happen to be a lot more words that actually do end in "-cular", like "particular", "molecular", "ocular", "circular"
