More so than the Death Star certainly. It seems like it was their headquarters as well as a superweapon.

They explicitly evacuate in good order, actually. Starkiller is a ridiculously good investment.

It wasn't the FO's investment, or rather, it was begun around the time of TPM when the FO was still Palpatine's pet project. (It's actually Ilum, from SWTOR and other EU stuff.) This was canonized by the Fallen Order video game

I hate this. But even so, ok, "so we just happened across a system-killer, wiped out one of the major solar systems, and then withdrew in good order" - the only way this is a tactical error is if you're a fool and don't realize you get ONE shot with that & any more are gravy.

like what, did Pryde seriously think he'd get more than one shot with that? *it eats the nearby star for fuel*

It can hyperspace jump, and does (since it was about to fire again)

Ok first off, that is the stupidest thing I have heard in terms of megaconstructions in SW. Second: Again. You get ONE shot with that thing. You do damage which can literally NEVER be healed, more than any weapon in the history of the galaxy. Anything else is *bonus*

Oh here's some "fun" canon: Ilum/Starkiller Base, upon becoming a star, is renamed "Solo" in honor of Han Solo, because he happened to get stabbed there

"How do we honor Han Solo's sacrifice?" "Let's name the star made out of the planet his son murdered him on, which also killed billions, after him"

Ironically if the sun the planet was orbiting around still exists then it's a binary system
