Nah, Keira Knightley's character wasn't there (she's not in the cast of AotC) Disney did a tie-in book, Queen's Shadow, where she's the main character, she ends up vowing to discover the real truth about Padme's death and becoming a Rebel

The dead handmaiden in AotC is Cordé, played by Verónica Segura (so, yes, the Latina handmaiden takes the hit) Keira Knightley was Sabé

I imagine by that point Knightley was about seven feet tall, so she couldn’t pass as Padme What if Rey is descended from one of Padme's ladies in waiting? Now there’s a novel I... would probably never read

Yeah there was a serious fan theory her grandparents were Obi-Wan and Sabé and that her getting knocked up is why she's not in AotC

I though Obi-Wan was involved with a Mandalorian woman from the Clone Wars cartoon? I’m not really familiar with the show. It does seem odd that Rey doesn’t go to Naboo at the end of TRoS, bc she probably does have some living relatives there.

I was thinking more of her mom's people. As far as we know Palpatine only had the one son. But that would’ve been an interesting idea — make Naboo the First Order's capital planet. Like Argentina after WWII.

This planet we think of as a center of culture and peaceful philosophy— have it turn out to be the galaxy's heart of darkness.

There's a lot of hints that Naboo is a reactionary backwater and the stuff that makes us supposed to like it is just more "traditional heartland" discourse like American conservative pundits spew about flyover country

I'm interesting in hearing which traits code Naboo as American heartland? I had trouble figuring out its coding; it seemed to be all over the place from Roman architecture to clothing and makeup yanked from Papua New Guinea and Korea.
