I don't approve of people who say that if their preferred candidate doesn't get the nom that they refuse to vote But having listened to their bottomless bile and nonsense I kind of see where they're coming from because I don't really want them to be happy or healthy either

The only reason to vote at all is because of the Kantian categorical imperative, which is usually seen as a deontological view of ethics "Even if it doesn't matter if I personally do it, I should act in the way I expect everyone else in the world to act"
-
If NOBODY voted then the system would collapse, therefore I owe it to the world to act like I expect everyone else to act ...But if that's true, then I should act according to deontology in general If I think Ralph Nader should be President I should vote for him

You mean the Kaplan argument? In said case, the importance of voting increases jointly with moderation and political information, so for a small but sizable group of people, voting would still be a duty. Anyway, is a very elitist and limited argument, to say the less
-
Okay but that means that voting only matters if you actually do vote as part of a sizable group of people who directly hold each other accountable for voting (carpooling to the polls etc) Most people actually don't do this

The application of statistics in that argument isn't a responsible one. It's the same fallacy as leads to the unexpected hanging paradox.
