"Did you get emotional when you put on the Han Solo outfit again?" "No, I got paid."

Which, as people have pointed out, is what everyone wanted to hear Han's actor say, but also, I'm pretty sure he was genuine

He's been so open about the fact that he always thought Star Wars was a bullshit project from the beginning That's why they created Lando to replace Han in case they had to kill him off in ESB

Han's idgaf attitude in ANH is a direct reflection of Ford's attitude in real life I mean he'd actually quit acting and then got roped into doing this movie because Lucas had hired him to stand in for Han while auditioning people to play Luke and then just hired him for real

To be fair, I think there's a general DGAF attitude in ANH among all the principals. They realized the dialogue was designed to be sort of naive and earnest and tried to have fun with it -- e.g. Hamill's overt whininess.

You don't see this attitude in the other two movies, b/c Lucas had brought in Kasdan to punch up the dialogue so it sounded more naturalistic and hip. ANH and the prequels are actually very similar in that regards, it's just that nobody ever seems to have goofed off on the PT.

It sounds like Lucas got way more tyrannical as a director when the prequels got made (see also refusing to delegate the writing and directing duties to nearly the same degree) And this was compounded by the extensive use of green screen

There's leaked footage where you can see Hayden Christiansen doing the grueling process of giving different line reads over and over again and Lucas keeps picking the worst one

Right before AOTC, Christiansen appeared in LIFE AS A HOUSE, which I assume his agent rushed him into to keep him from getting typecast. The movie isn't very good, but his performance is. Infuriates me to realize just how dreadful Lucas is at directing actors.

He was pretty good in Shattered Glass too. This makes him to only actor who played characters who betray both the Old Republic and the New Republic.

I had so many jokes about Hux's hunger to destroy the New Republic you don't even know

We had a TNR subscription when I was in high school and seeing "the New Republic" in the Zahn books always took me out of the story.
