Shia's had a pretty decent year overall, but the problem is that Mutt has Jar Jar levels of unpopularity. When would a fifth movie be set, anyway? 1970? Would Indy be in Vietnam this time?

Yeah nobody seems to have any solid information whatsoever on this movie other than the fact that it's happening because Disney's shareholders demand an ROI on all of the four billion they spent buying out Lucasfilm

Lucas teased the idea that he was working on a big Indy 5 movie to wrap up his story for years and then after the sale the guy Disney put in charge of the Indiana Jones property said they had nothing, there was no story that had been written

Which is weird since Lucas did in fact write substantial materials for Star Wars

I honestly think that the original idea in Crystal Skull really was to tie together IJ with GFFA and that Disney sees that as too risky

I dunno. I don't really see how you can pull that off in anything like a wink-wink way (see that old DH comic where Jones finds the Falcon in the Pac NW w/Solo's corpse inside, and Bigfoot is really Chewbacca).

As I've mentioned before, ET already is a bridge between universes, and the Crystal Skull aliens resemble the ET ones. It's worth digging into lore about the 90s Lucasarts video game The Dig, too, where astronauts explore a dead Galaxy and encounter alien ghosts

Also the ET species are "Asogian" in The Phantom Menace.

Right, I headcanon that outside the GFFA and without the help of time wolves, you can't hyperspace, so ET's from a generation ship that left before the Empire. The Dig aliens are Force users who have access to the same tech as the wolves

There was a joke on the old Star Wars website to that effect Senator Grebleips (the ET alien we see in TPM, and "Spielberg" spelled backwards) is mentioned on the HoloNet News to have secured funding for an extragalactic survey mission

We are cautioned that due to the vast distances involved we may not hear from these bold explorers again for "a long time"
