It's definitely one of the better scenes in the film.

What's weird is Ford doesn't show up in the credits which suggests he *really* resented being called back.

Well, no, I would just call that an attempt to avoid spoilers

Possibly? But I can't recall that ever happening in a film before.

I mean I've seen it done in TV where they wanted to keep the guest star a secret until the end but I've never noticed it in films. And usually they still credit them in the end crawl. Was Nimoy credited in Into Darkness I wonder?

Daniel Craig wasn't credited for his cameo in TFA, he had to confirm it was him in an interview

Actually looking it up, James Earl Jones surprisingly didn't get credited for playing the voice of Darth Vader for any of the original theatrical releases of the original Star Wars trilogy Nor was he credited for his brief lines in RotS

Yeah, there's this big discussion about the race issues around that that I first found out about in like 98 when my parents bought me "The Big Book of Star Wars Trivia" which had an essay by a black fan talking about how all of the handling of that made Black fans feel screwed

Yeah like if people made the connection to James Earl Jones' other work they'd imagine Vader as Black and we can't have that

Right, and if I recall this fan said growing up he and other Black nerds did make the connection and assumed Vader was Black under the mask and that for that reason ESB was a gut punch and then actually showing his face in RotJ was an active insult And this was before prequels

Was it in Mallrats or Chasing Amy? (or both?)

I still want to know how Kevin Smith feels now that he memetically infected everyone to the point that first the Legends EU addressed "Janitors on the Death Star," and then the actual sequel trilogy made the protagonist an actual Death Star janitor
