I feel like even colonialist academics of the 30s would not say "it belongs in a museum" abt an idol protected by operational traps including a giant rolling boulder, maintained by the indigenous people. I feel like they would let that one go, out of self preservation at least

I still wish Star Wars had done something similar with Han and Leia. As it is even with the whole "evil wizard in brain" issue Kylo Ren has an overly happy childhood, and it'd be totally in character for Han to have run off when Ben was born. Would also explain why Ren kills him

He could even have been the "cool absentee father who shows up with his spaceship on the weekends, sometimes, except when he doesn't" to give Ben the mixed feelings

The stepfather dies in WWII and young Henry ends up a troubled fatherless child anyway and takes on the nickname "Mutt" etc There are parallels to the Star Wars story but Mutt clearly has a much more valid grievance against Indy
-
Anyway Crystal Skull ends with Indy finally actually marrying Marion and being there for his son, though we'll see if that sticks when they do the sequel
