Yeah if he had actually been in the lava, presuming lava works the same way in their universe as ours (never a given), he'd be dead as a dodo within 5 seconds. His brain would be steaming out of his skull through his ears.

On an old thread someone talked to me about visiting Hawaii and experiencing firsthand how hot real lava is You *can't* intentionally burn yourself on it because it's so hot just getting *near* it triggers the hot-stove reflex to flinch away

Lying right next to a lava flow as a limbless torso *unable* to move away would be unbearable torture

... Obi-Wan just kind of watching his clothes burst into flame and his skin start to crisp and then taking his lightsaber and walking away without even trying to think of a way to end his suffering is pretty harsh

Well, Palpatine was hurrying there as fast as he could after he beat Yoda because he could sense shit was going down Which is a logical reason for Obi-Wan to just run off and leave him there, I guess

So it's Yoda's fault too, if he had just put in a little more effort and kept Palpatine busy a little while longer there'd be no Vader You really can't broil most cuts longer than like 5 minutes per side max

Yeah but if Palpatine had 1) known about Force healing and 2) been inclined to give up any of his life force to use it on anyone, he could have restored Vader’s, uh, potential.

It's hinted at with Grievous as the precursor that Palpatine doesn't mind turning his protégés into cyborgs so he can limit and control their power
