His actual plan at that point seems to have been to have some fun electrocuting Luke, discard Vader as a broken toy, then tell the troops to pick up Leia from the moon of Endor before they blow it up

The ending of RotJ is... not very good (again, Marcia Lucas gave up on it and then gave up on George entirely in the process) But the idea seems to be if he forces Vader and Luke to duel then whichever one wins, knowingly killing your own dad or your own son would break him

And being fully broken after that would mean they were fully ready to "Strike me down in all of your anger" etc Possibly when Vader finds out about Leia Palpatine starts reshuffling his priorities like "Hey maybe being a girl is better than a broke-ass cyborg"

After all Vader's body technically doesn't have a dick now either

I thought we had this discussion and we were unsure if that's the case

Dicks are soft tissue hanging on the outside of their body surrounded by extra sweat glands just to keep them from overheating Cooking in lava like he did is really not good for dicks

The difference of a few degrees seems to lose meaning when you're talking about molten rock exposure. I mean, does he still have any bones?

Contrary to fanon the scene in the movie doesn't show him *in* the lava, just the proximity to the lava slowly cooking him by radiant heat Like putting a roast under the broiler

Yeah if he had actually been in the lava, presuming lava works the same way in their universe as ours (never a given), he'd be dead as a dodo within 5 seconds. His brain would be steaming out of his skull through his ears.

On an old thread someone talked to me about visiting Hawaii and experiencing firsthand how hot real lava is You *can't* intentionally burn yourself on it because it's so hot just getting *near* it triggers the hot-stove reflex to flinch away

Lying right next to a lava flow as a limbless torso *unable* to move away would be unbearable torture

... Obi-Wan just kind of watching his clothes burst into flame and his skin start to crisp and then taking his lightsaber and walking away without even trying to think of a way to end his suffering is pretty harsh

Yeah he should have done the merciful thing and actually force pushed him into the lava itself. But then Obi-Wan did come to regret that moment for a long time.
