Seriously Rey is gonna be super powerful now specifically because she's a Force dyad combined into one body and shit

Is that how that even works? Do we know at all what a "dyad" is and if it confers more power?

I know some film schools used to teach "dyad theory" to analyze how much two characters interact and thus judge the strength of their dyad. So maybe it's super meta :p

I mean, yeah, a 'dyad' just means a community of two. It makes as much sense as any other word for "hey these 2 people are connected". But it also doesn't mean much for explanatory power?

Frankly, I think that it's just a "Force Bond" from Bioware and that Abrams, unlike Johnson, is unwilling to admit he's building on a video game

The way Palpatine talks about it in this movie implies that it's a natural phenomenon, that Rey and Ben's souls were somehow paired from birth by nature, as opposed to TLJ saying that Snoke artificially created a Force Bond to fuck with them

Frankly I think they're going to retcon that Palpatine was full of it.

But then where did the magic Force juice he was imbibing come from

Oh I think there was a bond, I just don't know if he knew where it came from or anything. If anything I guess we can infer, like it or not, that since Jedi had been forbidden to have children and Sith tend to murder them, the scions of two bloodlines would just be juicier

The idea that their bloodlines' destiny was fated to come to fruition through some kind of erotic union makes all of Palpatine's interactions with Anakin in the prequels even creepier
