But it means something to the AUDIENCE and as we know evoking paratext emotion is more important than narrative

Hell, Ben and Luke clearly don't have any luggage, they didn't pack a change of clothes Yes they left in a big hurry and Luke's home was ransacked but still, Ben didn't take anything from his house either

I think the intended implication was less space travel took a long time (it's always been speedy in the movies) but that very few spacecraft left Tatooine and they were expensive.

Well, that's a movie budget thing :P But I figured that was a day and a half, maybe a day, and Alderaan was like, the closest significant world.
-
Like where I used to live in Wisconsin, saying "I need to go to Alderaan" is like saying "I need to go to Chicago," and Luke saying "I can take you as far as Anchorhead" and then eventually agreeing to Mos Eisley is first saying "the Greyhound stop" and then "Madison"

For all we know Luke and Obi Wan only had the clothes they were wearing, washed them en route and found Lando's old clothes to wear in the meantime. That's the explanation I'm going with anyway.

Lol can you imagine these two scruffy Tatooine guys sullying Lando's fine silk PJs (with matching cape)
