I dunno, I always put Michael Myers in with Jason as the "tortured antihero" kind of slasher He experiences his need to kill as internal torment, he wants to be free of ithttps://twitter.com/the_moviebob/status/1215885731798929409 …

Pinhead in the first couple of movies at least seems to have some sense of honor or at least propriety. He's not slashing just anyone, you have to be asking for it.

In the original movie micheal Myers was just a shape

Even in just the first movie you have that moment where his mask comes off, revealing he's just a frightened young man (being unmasked seems to paralyze and terrify him)

I mean, I guess with Michael it depends where you stop/start in which continuity; but in any of them he's either a "vessel of evil," "vessel of occult evil" or "oedipal rage case;" so I'm still not sure he can ever really work as an audience surrogate or "sympathetic"...

...and Pinhead I'm not even really sure counts the same, since he's more like a manifestation, but he's definitely more "lawful evil" antagonist than anything.
