This is the one criticism of that movie that’s always bothered me. Obi-Wan actually did something tactically sound. There are a number of solid reasons you want the high ground in any fight.

We only really saw the true power of Vader (not Anakin) in Rogue One. Other than the choking, he never really did that much in the trilogy.

I suppose in the trilogy he and the Emperor were the only experienced force users who got into fights. He never faced a credible threat who he went all-out to defeat. Maybe Obi-Wan, but Kenobi wasn’t looking to win. (Real answer: Lucas wasn’t making martial arts movies
