I started watching that Cells at Work anime on Netflix and I never thought I'd say it but they gave the Kylo Ren treatment to literal cancer

The depressing thing is that it's super natural if you accept the core premise of "the organelles are literally people in a community"; a cancer cell is a cell that went wrong after all.

Well yeah it's supposed to be an extra layer of tragedy because the body fighting against cancer is fighting against your own people who betrayed you

Yeaaaaahhhh. Which is, obviously, Real Unwholesome if one views it as Actually Cancer

This is a whole thing, the regular white blood cells (neutrophils) are frontline grunt soldiers who fight against monsters (bacteria) Their superiors, the Killer T cells, are the grimdark secret police who monitor their own citizenry for any sign of treasonous DNA

It's one of those full circle metaphor things It's like the Inquisition in 40K but that's because it actually literally is the thing that that was a metaphor for (protecting a body from disease)

It's hilarious because it comes off as bizarre propaganda if you take it at all seriously Little baby cancer cells huddled in terror as a Killer T death squad starts kicking down doors demanding to know where the neoplastic transcription errors are
