The study in the OP is about the fact that while this is often cited as true it isn't necessarily Moment-to-moment "happiness" has a satiation point but "life satisfaction" apparently does not

Which is relevant for any practical definition of happiness since plenty of life decisions revolve around trading away "happiness" in terms of mood for "life satisfaction" (i.e. doing something painful and difficult to achieve something impressive)
