It's like, everyone knows the right answer to the question is that the monarchy is an outdated institution and that's what people generally say, especially when talking to Americans They all say they don't care But they clearly DO care

The weirdest thing is coming across these anti-Meghan Markle rants from people who claim to be antimonarchists Like being EXTRA mad that the privileges of royalty are going to this entitled bitch who married into it, like that's somehow morally worse than being born into it

This weird mazelike rhetorical construct where the person is stridently insisting THEY don't care about royal protocol and personally think it's all obsolete medieval bollocks but if SHE "wants to be a princess" she damn well better respect our traditions It's transparent

In my experience; Most people I know couldn’t give a toss what they do and generally take no notice. Some hate the fact that they’re subsidised by the taxpayer...which is a weird situation because of how the Sovereign Grant works. Mostly they’re just a thing that exists.

It took me a while to come to terms with this nationwide delusion, but I'm afraid the average brit considers the royals to be members of their own family, the gross overfamiliarity and UNENDING drivel people say about them is utterly insufferable.
