Honestly if you're gonna go with Rey as a Palpatine, *go with Rey as a goddamn Palpatine* Normally I would be actually rather drawn to the idea that her parents were rebellious scions of an evil dynasty. But you can't do that here as well as you can "rebellious clone."

Rian did, in fact, say that he briefly considered escalating the whole "You're nobody" concept by saying Rey wasn't even a "real person" but a clone or a droid, but decided the simpler answer was better In hindsight, he probably should've done the clone thing
