I would actually favor a Xande from FF14 approach where they like, found some tissue on the Death Star and used dark cloning bullshit to grow it back into a horribly maimed and half-living grotesque

It would be a simple way to explain why he's basically a wasted husk of flesh. He's not really "alive"

How long do people even live in Star Wars? Has anyone died of old age?

It's not clear, but like... Cloning is a known technology. It's unusual, but it's hardly Dark Secrets Only The Sith Knew. But the use of cloning to give a half life to the dead? That IS both arcane and something only a Sith would really want.

I think the Sith secret is the mind transference, however that happened Whatever blueprint was being used for the body it seems to have been a rough go Snoke seems like a trial run, maybe. Looks incomplete.

It's weird he has a tub of Snokes that were all fucked up, though there must be a reason he needs Ben and Rey and can't just keep clone hopping, again sure wish we'd elaborated on ANY of this in the movie

Honestly if you're gonna go with Rey as a Palpatine, *go with Rey as a goddamn Palpatine* Normally I would be actually rather drawn to the idea that her parents were rebellious scions of an evil dynasty. But you can't do that here as well as you can "rebellious clone."

Well yeah the idea of Palpatine just having regular kids is such a retcon of the earlier movies it's ridiculous

Yeah I can't stand anything about Rey's parents revelation 2.0, like Palps having actual kids is dumb and them being actually heroes who bravely abandoned their daughter is REALLY fucking dumb

Yes, we could've also had some clarity on why, exactly, leaving Rey to grow up alone in the scrapyard was the best possible plan they could come up with

I thought they were planning to come back quickly but got caught and killed - but still kind of weak...
