Still blows my mind how Call of Duty: Black Ops portrayed the Soviets as collaborating with a Nazi scientist after the war when in real life, it was literally the Americans who did that

Technically, both sides (Operation Paperclip & Op. Osoaviakhim) scooped up former nazi state scientist. Despite hairbrained leadership of der fuhrer, nazi did had some relatively advanced technology research, when it wasn't pushed aside for a impractical "superweapon" 1/

HOWEVER, the US and USSR had very different methods of acquiring and use of these scientists. Namely, Scientists captured by the US enjoy relative comfort and a cleaned slate (Kurt H. Debus & Von Braun), while those captured by the USSR (Fritz Karl Preikschat)... didn't...

I don't know exactly what you mean by this but Helmut Gröttrup was paid 8000 rubles a month during his time in the Soviet space program (at a time when the average engineer's salary was 1000) and he and his men were free to leave to West Germany when their work was done

Yeah both sets of former Nazi scientists had a time period after the war where they were living under military supervision in crappy conditions Von Braun's men famously complained that they were "prisoners of peace" and that the food at Ft. Bliss was "inedible" etc

And both sets of scientists were let go after that period of time, having been promised their freedom in return for their cooperation It's just that von Braun's group chose to stay in the US afterwards, while Gröttrup's group had always made it their goal to leave for the West
