Ok, so some kanji seem reasonable Like, you know, 一。 makes sense to me . But then we run into other kanji like 集 and I'm just like how do I ever learn to write that? I have a practice pad, but STILL

It's possibly easier to learn how to write by reading characters in a calligraphic font that shows the direction the brush was moving on the paper and stuff than reading them as block printed characters, some old school teachers insist on it

There’s definitely a “correct” stroke order for kanji as well, and it’s usually shown on flash cards and textbooks. There’s a left-to-right, then top-to-bottom logic to it that becomes more intuitive after a while, at least from what I learned when I was into learning Japanese.
