    1. Dr. Ellie Lockhart. Republic serial villain.‏ @BootlegGirl 29 Dec 2019

Wait so there were people who think Lando was hitting on ex-Stormtrooper girl and not hinting he was her dad?

Given Lando's reputation. The Dad is a bit odd to think of because the films don't discuss Lando family or give any clues why Lando might see the connection

I mean, why would he be hitting on her given the age gap and Lando's known preference for entities that look as little like him as possible? And why would he lead with where she's from when he knows as a stormtrooper she wouldn't know, if he's flirting?

I don't think the movies do go into Lando' s preferences in any detail. Did Lando know she was a Storm trooper (seen the movie once, can't remember). It was also an odd way to start a conversion with someone who might be your kidnapped daughter.

I mean, he's into droids. And possibly spaceships. Asking her where she's from would, I guess, be asking if she remembers anything about her parents

Could be. It is ambiguous, less so when context from the comics (I think) but that isn't in the film. Lando being in droids doesn't stop him from also being into humans. Without knowing about Lando's missing daughter, the flirting a is reasonable conclusion

I guess the thing I'm kind of dancing around is it would be a pairing obviously based on "stick the two black people together," and Lando has never shown any indication he prefers to date black people - I'm sure he would, but since they have nothing else in common, why her?

I agree. Making the two ex-storm troopers black was also dubious. I prefer the daughter angle for that reason, but I don't think is how the scene reads without the extra context.

So dubious! I start to wonder if they are all black. I know one of them was Daniel Craig, but he never took his mask off, so it doesn't count.

Phasma is an officer but started as a stormtrooper herself and you can see Gwendoline Christie's skin through the crack in the mask just before she dies

(and she removes her mask in the comic series starring her, and looks like Gwendolyn Christie)
