I mean I listen to people who have actual experience with the situation of their gender not matching the one assigned to them i.e. trans people. I don't need to experience it to respect it

and with how much we still don't understand about the brain, who am I to think it's not possible to be a different gender than the one they revealed at your gender reveal party

I don’t identify with my hands, I have hands, I don’t identify with my lungs, I have lungs, and I don’t identify with my vagina, I have a vagina. Sex is just physicality you have.

I agree with that actually. I also believe people who have a gender identity that doesn't match that physicality.

the APA is bullshit, you know they used to believe in multiple personality disorders, hysteria, give out lobotomies, it's not a good science to go by. There is no way for a male to FEEL female because he has zero experience in a female body.

Hoo boy So if we can't trust medical science (which I agree we shouldn't, not without reservation) then we should trust... you?

The usual take about pushing back against the medical establishment, from disability advocates, is an emphasis on self-advocacy - no one gets to make the final decision on whether I'm healthy or unhealthy but me

You are advocating the opposite - neither patients nor doctors can apparently be trusted, so who can? Who's qualified to determine how a body should objectively function? Julie Bindel? Alice Dreger? Jesse Singal? You?

(This, by the way, is why I have such a jaundiced eye for the discipline of "bioethics", saying you're qualified to have an opinion on what other people should do with their bodies based on a lifetime of experience in having opinions)
