And Hitler's notorious softhearted liberalism will leave Earth too obsessed with internecine genocides and unprepared for their real mission of genociding other species

Although I would love a Mirror version of The City on the Edge of Forever where Mirror Edith Keeler is a white supremacist

This is why my headcanon is that the Mirror Universe was NOT "always evil" - whenever the divergence between Prime Star Trek and the Mirror guys are it's AFTER the present day

It was Roddenberry letting loose his misanthropic side, his view of everything horrifying about human history

See what I like is that the Mirror Universe is this extremely dark world where it seems like humans are the force that ruins everything rather than redeeming it

The Mirror Borg really are a cooperative that exist to try to bring about an end to war and hatred The Terrans view the Borg as their worst enemy because existing in some kind of symbiosis with another species rather than enslaving or wiping them out disgusts them

Mirror Khan's great sin would've been wanting to limit human expansion to Earth because they have no right to invade other worlds and doing so would disrupt the "purity" of human evolution The humans said fuck no to that

Also I would love to see some weird politics in Trek. Khan as like, a really idealistic eco-fascist or something

I liked that Mirror Bashir was quite dim and uncouth, foreshadowing the genetic engineering twist in the main universe.

This is perfect and blatantly set up and still somehow the opposite of actual Mirror Bashir. I mean, there's some pretty interesting (or futile and boring) stuff underlying the whole idea when it's interrogated. Like, there aren't really "opposites"

So they did end up banning genetic engineering but in a completely different way Mirror Julian was created by his evil unscrupulous parents to be an enslaved weapon with a built in kill switch The Jack Pack are all used to plan genocides and such

My headcanon is that in the Mirror Universe the Eugenics Wars also happened but Khan was a well intentioned guy who wanted to unite Earth to stop the constant bloodshed But baseline humanity in Mirror Earth was too vicious to ever let themselves be "improved" and "replaced"

Mirror Bashir should've been a proto-Khan Singh, a genetically engineered superman raised to be a warrior king Mirror Garak reaches out to him because he senses the glimmer of compassion and empathy within the monster

Mirror Garak is a Cardassian culture hero, a scion of the nobility, a great poet and orator, a pacifist and idealist whose heart is slowly being broken by all the violence and cruelty he's exposed to

Keep Intendant Kira the same but make Mirror Garak really MIRROR Garak and not just Garak with no conscience He's the last Cardassian on the station because Kira took him as a prize after crushing the rebellion

It's a shame because I would've been here for a whole plot where the Dominion are benevolent aliens shepherding the solids along the path of evolution Trying to free the long-suffering Cardassians from their brutal Bajoran overlords and their cruel Terran Empire allies
