I haven’t had any notifications on my phone for quite some time and don’t miss it at all. The only ones I have are very critical ones - my doorbell & imessage from my SO, that’s it!

Fairly cheap for the benefit of an automated assistant. First $18 openAI gave me expired, but half of Jan only cost me $1.70 so far ✨ The value of this is at least 10x

Fun fact: the script for this was mostly written by ChatGPT itself (very meta!). 🦾 I just attached it to a Google Sheet for ease of use / pseudo UI, and fixed / improved a few things. I've been running it for about a couple weeks myself, but now decided to share with you all.

It'll even chart out some stats for you in the last tab. 📊 You can keep running it, or stop running via the AI ASSISTANT top menu at any time. If you forget whether it's running you can check the Stats sheet and the top row will tell you.

THAT'S IT, if you got the success modal, it's now running. New emails you receive will get automatic drafts every 30 mins. It'll never auto send the emails. It only writes things as drafts. 😏

Btw, If you're unsure about security, check the code yourself by going to Extensions > Apps Script, and you'll see nothing malicious is being done. This is just a sheet + script that runs on your own account. The only data sharing is OpenAI prompts for summaries/replies.

When you start it, you'll need to give permissions. It'll say it's unverified + unsafe (it's not). Click Advanced > Go to Gmail AI Assistant > Allow. IMPORTANT: After you allow, you'll need to click AI Assistant > Start assistant, AGAIN (idk why) You'll get a success modal. ✅

BTW: It's smart enough to auto ignore emails like newsletters, html emails, promotion emails, etc 🧠 There are some advanced settings like auto excluding domains, doing it only for certain domains (may be useful for work), or accepting / rejecting meeting requests in replies.

Next sheet. On the second sheet/tab (Set up your AI assistant), write your name. Then at the top menu click AI Assistant > Start assistant. 🟢 (it'll run every 30min) You can also run it once instead to see what it does, if you'd like, and then start it.

People tend to put too much focus on doom and negative scenarios (students will now copy paste, creativity is doomed, etc) but there’s clearly way more upside. This is the new “calculator used in math classes” of our decade. It unlocks human potential when used well.
