@TeamYouTube I just received a copyright claim about a piece of music on a video where I'm making music myself from scratch. They claimed I used a piece of music that came from a sample pack I bought and is not affiliated to the company filing the claim...
Plus finally, they are also the ones reviewing the dispute about their own false claim... They could easily ignore it and run away with my revenue and I have no option to do anything about that. Do you realize how susceptible this is to fraud?

One simple change would solve a lot. YouTube needs to freeze the revenue at the moment a copyright claim is made and only send the revenue to the copyright holder AFTER the claim/dispute process is over. That way nobody can run away with your revenue by filing a fraudulent claim.

So my question is: What is YouTube doing to prevent this from happening and what are the repercussions for the claimant filing these invalid claims? My channel can get terminated when I file an untruthful dispute, but what is the result for an invalid claim?

Okay so
@YouTube does, in fact, hold the revenue now, that is a good sign, my bad for getting that wrong. But the other issue still remains, the company making the false claim is also the one reviewing my dispute, that seems very open to fraud.Show this thread
