A law school Professor of mine would force us to loudly project our voice in class. One woman could not. He would call on her over and over yelling “louder, louder Ms. X” But she could not and it was cruel to try to force her. (I did not want to put in her actual name so.X

When I was in tech school, there was a guy that didn't read very well and the teacher always called on him to read questions/answers out loud. The teacher was determined to make him fail out, me and the other guys got him through. Not gonna let some racist prick steal his future.

I was a super sensitive kid. Our entire 1st grade class was punished because of a few kids misbehaving. I cried and asked our substitute why I was being punished when I hadn't done anything wrong. She looked at me and said, "When you lie down with dogs, you end up with fleas."

I have never forgotten this, because, for one, it was a ridiculously unsympathetic response. I, of course, had no choice in who my classmates were. And yet, there was something to it. The world judges you by your associates, fairly or not.

Positive one. Head of my grad committee reviewing chapters of my thesis said “You pay me to make you better, not to compliment what you’re doing right.” I felt it a good way to let me know that not mentioning something didn’t mean he hadn’t read it and liked it.
