The valley bottom below Linkenholt Hanging & Sheepless Hill was full of ravens. They were crossing from one side to the other, performing barrel rolls on passing. Wing wash like stiffened taffeta, cronks like Roman generals, the sounds, let alone the sight was mesmerising!

For A small, beautiful detail discovered by the wayside on my walk today. Blown there like a kiss from a garden, to the nearby wild with love.

The bittern is a relative of the heron. It's a wetland bird with incredible camouflage that allows it to stalk undetected (by fish and often by birdwatchers!) through the reedbeds. It's also on the Amber List - we're lucky to have them at our Calvert Jubilee nature reserve.

I decided that this year, every day, I would knit a row on a scarf to mark the corresponding daily temperature/weather of my town. It felt like a good way to engage with the changing climate and with the changing year. A way to notice and not look away. Here's January then.

I gave the Blue Jays egg shells to stop them from eating the paint off my deck. They finished the shells and went back to the paint. Sigh.

My long time flower craft originated as gifts, this for my Mom at Thanksgiving 35+ years ago, remembering our farm family's grace that I grew up with at every meal. Still my fav Now in my sister's kitchen for her grandchildren

I wasn't expecting to see this Barn Owl out in the drizzle this morning. I really like this image with the contrast in tones with the blue cast from the early morning light and the warm tones of the owl. Photographed at 12,500 ISO.
