Resentment has a place, but after a certain point only burdens you, and must be let go. Forgiveness doesn’t just free the offender, it frees the offended.
Conversation
Primarily frees the offended, as the offender is often oblivious to any resentment against them!!
Now the question is, how to let go?

I find empathy useful in this. When I can place myself in the shoes of another, to recognize the difficulty of their own journey and struggles, I find compassion. It can transmute that resentment into a lighter tone, freeing you from the emotional chains that bind you.

Totally agree. And I find that some resentments disappear after a first wave of empathy and compassion, while others may take a lifetime of peeling back layers of the resentment onion

Ugh, that damn resentment onion. Tears and stinging eyes yet you can't stop the process. I think peeling back the layers does allow one to move through the act slowly, letting it unfold. Who knows if you'll find an end to it, but the commitment is important.

Yes! 🤍 commitment to the path, to the process, without any guarantee of a final destination (maybe in our final reincarnation lol)

Loving the 'resentment onion'. I'm gonna start using that.
