I switch between my writing app, a pen and paper, illustrating in photoshop, using a whiteboard when approaching a new chapter or episode. I’ll travel (when possible), work in different rooms, even sit in different locations on the floor. Drugs, alcohol, if feeling dangerous.

Changing the medium/scenery/brain chemistry forces a reconstruction of the frame, producing insights, slicing open pathways of discovery you never knew existed.

My understanding is that mindfulness/insight meditation takes aim at this 'breaking of the frame' through thought alone. Analysis/synthesis cycles, disintegrating/integrating reality and gradually increasing the fidelity of one's experience. Can anyone speak to this?

Hi Arran. I do notice the more I do meditation and mindfulness, the more I can become aware of my underlying assumptions, normally around emotions because those stand out. Combining that with the other habits you described might be very powerful
