I have switched to letting them explore their own mind caves and letting them bump up against the daemon and then asking them what happened.
Kinda like backseat therapizing . Not as much credit but also not as much blame either.

Yes, well said. I think of it as creating a space of trust and safety that affords the individual self-discovery, rather than impose it.

yeah and for me it's ideally a space without hierarchy, where even the facilitators are participants in some way.

Interesting. I do think the self-improvement in isolation, or working on yourself with one other person in private is not ideal. We’re all part of social systems and are wired to self-regulate as part of a group, so I can see how a council would be powerful.
super powerful, and seemingly an endangered species in many communities. but definitely need both individual discernment and group council. a good blended example is something like a Quaker clearness committee

one more thing i'm learning is that when it comes to something like ecological collapse it's nearly impossible to process alone. actually i'd say it's a mental health risk. we need to work through collective trauma in community to help ground these truths in a new shared reality
