Epistemic humility is important. Epistemic humility can also be hamstringing. What is the correct balance of ‘holding back until you understand more’ vs. ‘taking action, even though you might be wrong’? The latter cannot be avoided because we can never be truly certain.

Both! I've been thinking about it something like this. If your ego can expand and contract to any size —you're free to appear dumb and learn from others who know more; and to create something of value despite not knowing everything perfectly.

To grow we must step into the unknown, risking failure and humiliation. Otherwise we remain adolescent. Wisdom is not measured the absence of falling, but by how many times you fall and get back up, etc. Embrace the cringe!
