Finally felt like the most important thing was to absorb The Master and His Emissary. Too many echoes to not have read the source material.

I sort of wish it had more connectome/architectural underpinnings rather than philosophical. This book raises so many questions I want to poke at hopefully this will be a long running thread where I can collect some papers to fill in those gaps (v aspirational)

Yes! Although, doesn't read as strictly ego (maybe just because ego is overloaded with connotation). Maybe more the mother of ego.

There's an interesting section about logical paradoxes (e.g. Ship of Theseus) and how they're only paradoxes if you can't shift the frame. That's out of scope of ego questions as I understand them.
