Maybe! But acceptance of The Process seems to potentially indicate otherwise. Even the “Who’s better, X or Y” fun 3 drinks in bar debate is now “Let me destroy you with my wall of data from Basketball Reference I just pulled up on my phone.”

I'd argue that this end-state has been more player-driven than front office-driven, at least for star players. Star players and their moves drive the year-long fandom; not the role players who are used as "assets" in getting star players.

Yes and no. Fans are smarter than ever and the average fan understands the value of draft picks and cap flexibility 10x better than they did in the 90s. Remember, “The Process” (intentional losing) was wildly popular among fans.
