No. I don’t think its a problem. I think people should do whatever they want without anyone forcing them to anything. Forcing jobs to be only aplicable for women it’s sexist as it is doing the opposite. Same for races. Women just tend to not go to certain jobs. Thats fine and ok

Do they actually "just happen to choose not to" or are they actively discouraged from doing so? Because that's generally what actually happens, like from personal experience I was almost pushed out of programming classes dozens of times but I stayed out of pure spite.

We need more women doing what they want to do, not what other people tell them they should do.

Encouraging more girls to go into stem isn't "telling them what they should do" it's telling them that if they're interested they can be just as good as boys

It depends on how it is being said. When people say things like "we need more women in X job." That is pressuring them. If people say: "If you want to be a rocket scientist then you can be one." That is encouraging them.

How is the former pressuring anyone??

Because it doesn't even take into account whether they want to go into that job at all. Why would we need more women (or men) in any particular job? Just because the numbers aren't equal? If women all want to be nurses or have flower shops, I say let them do what they want to do.

"we need more men in gardening" doesn't say anything specific to anyone specific so it's laughable to be that you could legit consider it """pressuring"""

Then what is the point of saying it?

It's an explanation for why there are campaigns encouraging girls who are interested in coding
