Dear God this is the strongest example of motivated reasoning I've come across in the wild. You have an entire generation of young people encountering the same facts we all know - devastating climate change - without our jaded learned helplessness. Of course they're protesting.
The issue is they aren't encountering facts, the IPCC report doesn't make the claims I keep reading from the climate strikers.
The climate has been changing since the inception of the Earth There have been 5 Ice Ages in the 4 billon history of this Earth . Man was not around then to either cool them nor warm them . At one time the entire planet was a ball of ice . Another time both ice caps were melted .
Nuclear is the way assuming conditions are met and governance is in place to ensure oversight. Problem - the devastation an accident can produce. Massive increases in nuclear power sites globally increases the chance of accident. Need unwavering adherence to standards.
The worst "accident" (by a very big margin) was Chernobyl. That was more an act of extreme folly. Even there, not nearly as bad as portrayed in dramas.
Perhaps someone could ask if the science means what they think it means.
