The good news is that there is an effective, scientifically proven tool we can use in our daily lives. Research shows that if we can build in even small amounts of time to reset and recharge, we can interrupt the sort of cumulative stress that leads to burnout.

One of my mother’s many gifts was her contagious ability to be in a constant state of wonder at the world around her. Whether she was washing dishes, feeding seagulls at the beach or reprimanding overworking businessmen, she maintained her sense of childlike wonder at life.
