    Apparently, we are happiest when we have free time, but not too much. This study of 35,375 Americans finds no free time stresses us out & makes us less happy, but having more than about 10 hours of discretionary time also lowers well-being, unless we feel we are being productive.

    I'm sure there are individual students who benefit from the structure that a part-time job forces upon them, and I don't want to deprive anyone of some extra pocket money. But the "working your way through college" ideal is anti-intellectual and harmful.
