zkSync is building the first EVM compatible ZK rollup. But what does that mean? Everything you can do on Ethereum, you can do on , but it’ll be cheaper and faster without compromising on security. Here’s what you need to know 🧵

zkSync is part of a group of L2 solutions called rollups. More specifically, zkSync is a ZK rollup. The ZK stands for zero knowledge, which is a cryptographic term for one party to prove to another that something is true without revealing any other information.

Rollups work by moving transactions to a secondary layer that’s faster and cheaper to use. Transactions made on the rollup then get compressed into a single transaction that gets sent to L1.

With ZK rollups, each batch of transactions gets sent to an off-chain prover that generates cryptographic proofs showing that the transactions are valid.

The future will be built on ZK rollups. Cheap, fast, secure. But WTF are they? And why does Vitalik say they're the best solution for scaling long term? We did the research so you don't have to 🧵

On zkSync, the rolled up transactions get sent to L1, where the cryptographic proof confirms that all the transactions are valid. This means there’s less to compute, which gives you cheaper transactions & much more!

is just getting started, and smart contracts are coming with v2 later this year. Being EVM compatible allows for apps on L1 to easily move to L2. Get the best of Ethereum at a fraction of the cost.

There’s a blossoming ecosystem being built on zkSync, backed by a massive $200m developer fund (). And this list of projects will only continue to expand:

Let’s see the evolution of #zkSync ecosystem. Unbelievable! After only 2 months, there have been many projects built/integrated on @zkSync 🚀🚀🚀 #L222
