As a former sort-of-montrealer, the cycling culture just doesn’t compare to anything in Ontario. We’re severely lacking in the political will to get infrastructure in place to truly let bikes/people who ride them to get the most from our cities, from Toronto to Guelph

I find climate change deniers and anti carbon taxers so frustrating. At least if you’re going to go against most science/economics, know your facts. Some guy tried to tell me the fed carbon tax was a money grab? But didn’t know the fed gov is going to rebate?

Every now and then I discover a bike lane on a busy city street that looks safe for kids. It's too bad this is an anomaly, instead of the rule. There are a few cities in Canada that have made great strides in a short period of time towards this goal. and .

The fact that has made creating walkable communities a central big move of it’s plan is both a clue + an inspiration to cities around the world. We don’t need gadgets. We don’t need to invent something new. We know exactly what to do.

I am irate. Women can literally never been enough for some of y’all. Too loud, too quiet, too privileged, too poor, too many dolls, too unfeminine, too cold, too shrill, too girly.

Angry tweet: I’m so sick of change fearing (usually older) people enforcing landuse and transportation policies that make life in cities and life for young ppl harder. Fearing transit expansion, NIMBYism and restricting all future development hurts our future.

I'd argue that "all those old white folk with old money who imagined you could always have 'small town' charm" are also holding uptown Waterloo back by expecting abundant free parking that actually works against both that charm and growth.

    c) I want to support my party as a yellow dog Democrat whose dad spent many happy years in service with it but I really, really don't wanna vote for JB. Please don't make me do that, people. I will if I have to, but I don't wanna.

Conservatives are 100% correct when they say you can reduce GHGs without carbon taxes. Can use regs. Tech mandates. Planting trees. Etc. Of course, without carbon pricing, you have to do *more* of these things, not less. But now is planting fewer trees. Go figure.

Downtown Guelph is walkable, and has good access to transit and bike infrastructure. True potential to become an amazing live/work/play community. But we need more housing. As long as a reasonable 1 bed apt is 1200$/mth, ppl will keep moving out to the burbs.

There was this whole call to revitialize the downtown in Guelph. You know what would really help with that? Building. More. Housing. Downtown.

"Adding apartments in residential areas" is a really obnoxious phrase constantly used against density at this SB 50 hearing. Apartments are "residencies" if you want to say "single-family" just say it, but a tenant is no less a resident than a homeowner.

Same goes for the ppl concerned about having to pay cover at a club when women get in for free. Great, be mad, BUT makes sure you’re JUST as mad about women getting roofied and assaulted in nightlife/party settings.

Some men truely boggle me sometimes. Being concerned about a coffee shop that charges 18% more for men (bc, um, wage gap) is fine, ONLY if you’re just as concerned about the wage gap for women. You can’t be mad about coffee, and not be bad about the devaluing of female labour.
