    Answer: It was Oliver Goldsmith’s comedy “She Stoops to Conquer.” While you may not be familiar with the play itself, you’ve probably quoted it! It is the origin of the phrase, “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you know lies.”

    It's ! Arena Stage was founded on August 16, 1950. Do you know what our *very* first production was? Hint: While Arena may be known for our bold take on new American work, this one was a classic from across the ocean. It was first performed in London in 1773.

    On Monday, the Arena team honored the life of staff member John Walters. Over the course of a storied career with Arena, John worked within a variety of departments including lighting, scenery, operations and events. We will remember him fondly as a devoted colleague and friend.

    It’s important to look at theater classics and think about how we can reimagine and revise those stories. Our 2011 production of “Oklahoma,” directed by included a dynamic cast as rich and complex as America itself. Have you seen the new at ?
