    of a Roman atrium house! An atrium house is a house with a central courtyard open to the sky. The courtyard was enhanced by colonnades, so that rooms could be reached without getting wet even while raining.

    In the 13th century a schoolboy named Onfim, perhaps bored during class, started doodling on his birch bark. He drew himself as a warrior & as "A WILD BEAST" and scribbled a greeting to his friend Daniel. These are his drawings, unearthed by archaeologists near Novgorod, Russia

    3D technology is particularly useful for battlefield reconstructions. Bone material injuries caused by fighting can be reproduced exactly. For this reason, even the most difficult battle scenes & find situations can be visualized.

    Gable roofs have apotropaic elements at key points, the frequent repetition of dragons is striking. Dragons are demons who could only be tamed by their own image. Carvings on portals also had apotropaic function. The north side of the churches was, according to old belief (2/3),

    Defense magic & ghost thresholds in stave churches!⛪️ In Scandinavia, stave churches were built during the transition from pagan religion to Christianity, especially in the 12th & 13th centuries, so there are still many pagan elements here. (1/3)

    Bog discoveries - conserved by 19th cent. ! The Thorsberger Moor is located in Schleswig-Holstein. H. C. Engelhardt systematically excavated the eastern part of the moor from 1858-1861. Drawings from the excavations are used for todays reconstructions.

    A computer generated image of Caesar dressed today, based off the "Chiaramonti Version" (16th cent.) The bust portrays Caesar at about the age of 45, showing some wrinkles, broad forehead, direct eyes, Roman nose, smallish jawline with a slightly prominent chin (pic HistoryLeak).
