The problem is not Prolog, Yarn has been created first and foremost to ensure reproducible builds, the new Yarn now is not backwards compatibile by default (pnp) and that can cause issues on envs that used to work with previous versions. It s a matter of smooth transition.

Every new major version of every open source dependency in all of your projects is supposed to have breaking changes – if they do semantic versioning correctly. You have to regularly deal with updates like this, at least by deciding if and when to apply them.
